Here's what's happening in 2020:
1) We partnered with the University of San Diego to host collaborative meeting sessions between refugee youth and local police officers to foster greater understanding and harmony between the two factions. The meetings proved extremely successful, as both sides gained a better understanding of what they can do to create peace and mitigate unnecessary violence. The police/refugee meeting concept is so incredibly important in our society today and something we hope to expand to other major cities.
2) We plan on providing refugee and immigrant youth with training in the medical field by raising funds for them to attend programs at Rady Children's Hospital. By helping these refugees become trained nurses and professionals in the medical field, we are creating economically beneficial opportunities that will allow them to enhance their existing skill-sets. We hope this will empower them to take prominent and lucrative roles in society.
3) We would also like to teach youth groups of refugees and immigrants about natural, DIY (do it yourself) projects, such as how to make their own natural sunscreens, lotions, and medicinal herb mixtures. This will not only be an educational opportunity for them to expand their knowledge on subjects that are not taught in school, but also be a fun project for them to do in their free time.
